Michael Golden (American, b.20th Century)
Comic Book Art
Michael Golden burst to the forefront of modern comic artists with his work on Marvel’s Micronauts series in the late 1970s. However, he broke into the industry at both Marvel and DC almost simultaneously. His first published comic story was “The Cask of Amontillado”, the backup in Marvel Classics Comics #28 “The Pit and the Pendulum”. It hit the stands in August, just two months before his first DC work in House of Secrets #148. After other early work in The Defenders, Mister Miracle, and Batman Family, he was given the Micronauts title where he carved out a name with his organic style and original design work. Golden co-created fan-favorite character Rogue with writer Chris Claremont for Avengers Annual #10, and his work on The ‘Nam (with Larry Hama) further assured his legacy.
