Description

Michael Golden Marvel No-Prize Book #1 Cover Original Art (Marvel, 1983). One of the very few times Stan Lee was ever depicted on a comic cover! And if you didn't know Golden was a skilled caricaturist, you do now as you look at his dead-on likeness of Stan the Man, dressed as Doctor Doom no less. This one-shot issue spotlighted 20 years of Marvel gaffes, and if you don't get the reference in Stan's word balloons, they allude to the puzzling moment from Tales of Suspense #92 when Captain America tells a bad guy, "Only one of us is gonna walk out of here under his own steam -- and it won't be me!" Ink over graphite on Bristol with an image area of 9.75" by 15.75". "The Official Marvel" is a paste-up glued to a clear overlay that's taped from the left and right edges to the board. Some minor staining towards the bottom of the page. The page is lightly toned. Very Good condition.
