Dave Dorman - Original Cover Painting for Batman/Tarzan: Claws of the Cat-Woman #1 (Darkhorse/DC, 1999). Artist extraordinaire Dave Dorman aptly handles the reins of this magnificent rendering of two of fantasy's greatest heroes, Batman and Tarzan, in the first of a four-part series. This first cover, painted in oil, is a perfect blend of fantasy and reality set deep in a lush jungle undergrowth. Dorman achieves an incredible level of realism, loading his palette with emeralds, aquamarines and rich blues. A sliver of sunlight breaks through the canopy and splashes on the wall behind Tarzan. You have to see this cover to realize how exquisite this work is. Image size is 11' x 17".

Dave Dorman - Original Predator 2 Box Art (Dark Horse, 1993). This outstanding Predator painting by the uber-talented Dave Dorman was used as the box art for a limited edition cold-cast porcelain statue of the hulking extraterrestrial, released by Dark Horse in 1993. Armed to the (long sharp) teeth, this aggressive alien straddles a river of molten lava, defying all comers to meet him face-to-ugly-face on the field of battle. Dorman outdoes himself on this fantastic painting, bringing one of the most famous cinematic monsters to vivid life. The painting measures 16" x 20" and is excellent condition, with some very slight blunting at the corners.

Dave Dorman - Original Art for Alien: Tribes, page 43 (Darkhorse, 1992). "This was a landmark of my career. It was an opportunity to do my first illustrated book, which was always one of my goals". So said Dave Dorman of his work on this 1992 Darkhorse hardcover, written by Steve Bissette. A 1993 Eisner Award winner for "Best Painted Work", this stunning illustration of a horde of aliens and their eggs is a dreadful demonstration of Dorman's ability to make the hairs rise on your neck. A horrifyingly beautiful 10" x 15" oil painting on an 11" x 16" gessoed illustration board, Dorman once again displays his astonishing talent to take it to the next level. A merciless masterpiece!

Dave Dorman - Original Trading Card Art - Captain America/Batman (DC/Marvel, 1990s). The Darknight Detective and the Sentinel of Liberty duke it out on the ultimate symbol of America -- the Statue of Liberty. This spectacular fully painted piece by Dave Dorman was used in a trading card set jointly issued by DC and Marvel. Highly dramatic, with a powerful use of color and composition, this is a Dorman painting that is not to be missed. Also includes the preliminary pencil sketch (8.5" x 11") used to work out the body positions of the two heroes. The painting measures 12" x 17", and is in excellent condition.

Dave Dorman - Original Art for Aliens: Tribes (Dark Horse, 1992). Based on the popular series of movies, Aliens: Tribes was an ambitious collaboration between writer Steve Bissette and artist Dave Dorman. Told in a series of painted pages, the book won the 1993 Eisner Award for Best Painted Work. From the third issue, the caption that accompanies this piece reads, "Kicker roared at her spineless majesty as the grenade launchers pierced her in the throat, thorax, and abdomen with 45mm charges, detonating on impact." Bissette considered this work to be a landmark in his career, and it is easy to see why. Rendered in oils on gessoed board, the piece measures approximately 11" x 16" overall and is in excellent condition. It is signed by the artist in the lower left.

Dave Dorman - Barbarians in Combat Fantasy Painting Original Art (1986). Best known for his wonderful paintings illustrating the "Star Wars" universe, Dave Dorman is one of the world's leading science-fiction/fantasy artists. This early painting, according to Dorman, "was based on a small Frank Frazetta pen sketch and was done at a time in my youth when I was teaching myself how to paint." This is a terrific piece that showcases Dorman's early promise. Measuring approximately 24" x 20" overall, this piece is in Excellent condition and is signed by the artist at the lower right.

Dave Dorman - Original Cover Art for Aliens Book 2: Nightmare Asylum (Bantam Books, 1993). The second novel in the Aliens paperback series was written by Steve Perry and features this Dave Dorman cover painted in rich oils on gessoed illustration board. In Aliens Book 2: Nightmare Asylum, the last survivors of an assault on the aliens' home planet, flee Earth and its alien infestation in a usually unmanned military transport, in a desperate attempt to stay alive. This cover is a sombre, iniquitous image, dripping with pure alien evil, painted by one of the fandom's favorite Aliens artists. The art size is 10" x 15" and is matted with a cream colored board.

In this exceptionally cool image, Rat ropes and nooses one of the alien creatures that has just killed one of her party.
