Description
Dave Dorman Batman Master Series Card #1 and Batman Masterpieces Cover Original Art (DC/Skybox and Watson-Guptill Publ., 1995-98). Originating as a centerpiece of a Skybox set of collectible cards, this dynamic composition returned in greater detail as the cover of Batman Masterpieces: Portraits of the Dark Knight and His World, a narrative exhibition catalogue of artistic interpretations. Where the published card had obscured the lower tier and Dorman's signature with a Batman logotype, the book-cover encore recaptured the greater wealth of lavish imagery (as seen here), down to the finer detail of four grinning Joker-Fish creatures, a reference to the classic "Laughing Fish" story from Detective Comics #478 (1978). Ink over graphite on Bristol board, with an image area of 18" x 27". Excellent condition, with slight edge/corner wear.More information about Dave Dorman. See also: Dorman, Dave Artist.
