Don Sherwood - Return With Us To... Comic Strip Original Art, Group of 60 (Copley News Service, 1983-85). In 1975, Don Sherwood teamed up with ABC Network's Bill Owen to create the syndicated newspaper panel Return With Us To.... The feature spotlighted a warm nostalgia for radio programs, and also pop culture and historical personages. Among the subjects included in this massive group lot are Ernie Pyle, "the Hardy Family," Fred Waring, "Singing Sam," "Mayor of the Town," "The Big Story," Charles Lindberg, and many, many others. The image area of most of the strips is 12" x 18", although a few are smaller. Each of the strips is in Excellent condition. (Total: 60 Original Art)

Don Sherwood - Original Cover Art for The Partridge Family #6 (Charlton, 1972). For those of us that came of age in the 1970s, there is one image that will forever, for better or for worse, be burned into our memories. One symbol of the decade that we can never, ever forget. I'm talking, of course, about the Partridge Family. A single mother of five precocious kids, they all just happen to be major rock stars. Wow. Talk about a family that nobody could identify with. And yet, the show was a smash, spawning best-selling albums, lunch boxes, and, of course, comic books. For fans of the show, there's no better image than the one offered here: all six Partridges rendered by portrait-artist supreme, Don Sherwood. This 14.5" x 23" treasure is in excellent condition, and should make some lucky nostalgic bidder very happy.

The dates included are 3-16-65, 3-19-65, 1-2-66, and 1-17-66. Don Sherwood's art shows the influence of Alden McWilliams at times -- a classic adventure strip style, derived from Alex Raymond's techniques. Don Sherwood - Dick Clark's Rock Roll and Remember Sunday Comic Strip Original Art, dated 8-6-95 (Olive Enterprises, 1995). Don Sherwood's resume includes stints on comic books such as The Partridge Family, The Phantom, and comic strips Terry and the Pirates, and Dan Flagg. He also handled character design for Hanna-Barbara television shows and illustrated for Columbia Pictures. In 1989, Don Sherwood teamed with Dick Clark in producing the realistic Sunday comics page feature Dick Clark's Rock Roll and Remember. This Sunday from August 8, 1995 cameos musicians Kiss, Chubby Checker, Rod Stewart, Hootie and the Blowfish, Chuck Berry, Peggy March, and the Yardbirds. Drawn in Sherwood's unfalteringly clean, open line style, the caricatures are right on. The art measures 14.5" 20.5" and is in Excellent condition.
