Captain America Comics #13 (Timely, 1942) CGC NM 9.4 Off-white pages. One of two highest-graded CGC copies, this wartime Captain America has incredible colors and centering, appearing as bright and sharp today as it did on the newsstand over 80 years ago. The unbelievable copy was only recently CGC-certified, adding to the impressive feat of its Near Mint condition.Captain America and Bucky loom large on this issue's classic cover by Al Avison. Released less than six months after the attack on Pearl Harbor, this "Remember Pearl Harbor" issue offers a superpowered revenge fantasy and is a perfect piece of pop cultural propaganda. Avison, Don Rico, and Chad Grothkopf provide interior art, with Rico illustrating the origin and first appearance of the Secret Stamp (Roddy Colt), a patriotic young hero eager to take down the Nazis.
Per GPAnalysis, the last recorded sale of the sole other CGC 9.4 copy ended at $50,400 in 2019. High-grade Timely collectors will not want to miss this rare opportunity for a truly stunning copy of an all-time classic issue. Overstreet 2023 NM- 9.2 value = $27,000. CGC census 6/24: 2 in 9.4, none higher.
