Walt Disney's Bambi: the Sketchbook Series Hard Cover (Applewood Books, 1997). This may be the best of the Disney Sketchbook Series. Marc Davis brought an extensive knowledge of animal anatomy to improve the drawing of the deer over those of Snow White. He also studied emotional baby photos in order to incorporate them into the drawings, and help mimic human emotions in the drawings without compromising the animal anatomy -- an astounding accomplishment. Tyrus Wong's abstract pastels and watercolors are sublime and they helped create an overall mood and look of this Disney masterpiece. Hardcover art book with dust jacket, featuring original production sketches from the 1942 animated feature film. Owner's name stamped in book; otherwise the book is in Very Good condition; dust jacket has some light wear, otherwise also Very Good. Copies of this terrific book commonly retails in the antiquarian market for $40 and up.
Carl Barks A Hot Defense Miniature Lithograph Limited Edition Print #213/595 (Another Rainbow, 1990). This print was the first in a series of miniature Carl Barks lithographs issued alternately with Another Rainbow's regular large series. Included here are merchandising aids promoting the use of "Picture Windows" (basically a picture button to be attached to belts and suspenders) and a brochure (8 copies) touting the effectiveness of the Li'l Abner characters to promote anything! Also included is the label for "Li'l Abner's Flyin' Saucer" (looks like a Frisbee), with instructions for use on the opposite side.
Li'l Abner Memorabilia and Promo Group of 7 (Saalfield, 1951). Vintage pages from a Li'l Abner coloring book, paper doll books (4 pages - one has a corner stain), and two promotional items. A. John Kaunus Political Cartoon Original Art (c. early 1940s). Lively cartoon illustration by Collier's magazine cartoonist A. John Kaunus. The art has an image area measuring 10.5" x 13.5". The upper and lower corners are damaged (outside of the image area), and there is paper tanning; otherwise the work is in Very Good condition.
Jack Kirby and Bill Wray The Astrals page 2 Original Art (c. late 1970s). Micro-IV, Kowalski, Creole and the other Astrals man the Bobsledder to their next session on Epsilon Ceritus in this page from Jack Kirby's four-page science fiction rock and roll tale, The Astrals. Although originally conceived and created as a giveaway comic for a Chicago radio station, the story was never published. This page did eventually see print as the centerfold of The Jack Kirby Collector #16 (July, 1997). The art has an image area of 14.5" x 19" and it is in Excellent condition.
Peter Kuper Burning World Illustration Original Art (1992). Peter Kuper applies his distinctive spray-paint-and-stencil technique to this illustrious mixed media illustration. Rendered in mixed media this art has an image area of 11" x 14.5", and is in Excellent condition.
Harvey Kurtzman (writer) Mad #13 Complete 6-page Photo Story "Baby Quips" Original Art (EC, 1954). This innovative story, written by Harvey Kurtzman, begins, "Photography Dept.: You have all, no doubt seen them there baby photographs with a caption underneath so's it has the baby talking like Milton Berle. If you haven't seen any, you're in luck. You're just in time to catch the Mad version of...Baby Quips!" Each hand lettered page of this howler features a large photograph, screened for reproduction, and accented with Kurtzman's hilarious "Mad-libs." Each page of the story has an image area of 9" x 12", and the pages are in Excellent condition. Potrezebie.
Stanley Link Tiny Tim Sunday Comic Strip Original Art dated 11-8-36 (Chicago Tribune/N.Y. News Syndicate, 1936). Agent X-9-0 has a plan to destroy Tim... with poison! Hot Finger Fanny's former criminal life comes back to haunt her in this Sunday from 1937. The art has an image area measuring 19" x 12.5". There is some paper tanning and light soiling; otherwise the art is in Good condition.
J. Lutfi Valet au Balion Painting Original Art (1995-98). An enigmatic and iconic figure serves as the focus of this somber acrylic on wood painting. This piece has an overall size of 16" x 24", and the art is in Excellent condition.
Wilson McCoy The Phantom Sketch Original Art (undated). This unusually large "Phantom" profile was drawn for the publicity photo shown here (note that the photo is for reference and not included with the lot). The art has an image area of 5" x 6". Aside from some paper tanning, and light soiling, the art is in Very Good condition.
Wilson McCoy The Phantom Daily Comic Strip Original Art dated 1-2-54 (King Features Syndicate, 1954). A jungle guide steals the Phantom's glass cup in this Wilson McCoy episode. The art has an image area of 20.5" x 6". Aside from some paper tanning (the figures in the thought balloon in the second panel are a photocopy), and a vertical folds between the panels (created by the artist), the art is in Very Good condition.
Wilson McCoy The Phantom Daily Comic Strip Original Art dated 2-1-55 (King Features Syndicate, 1955). The Ghost Who Walks leaves his tell-tale sign on the jaw of a thug in this Wilson McCoy episode. The art has an image area of 20.5" x 6". Aside from some paper tanning, yellowing in the Zipatone, and a vertical fold in the center (created by the artist), the art is in Very Good condition.

Mickey Mouse Animation Production Cel and Courvoisier Background Original Art (Disney, undated). Peppy hand-inked and hand-painted cel featuring Mickey against a Courvoisier background. The cel has been trimmed to the line and mounted directly on the background. Matted to an image area of 8.5" x 6.5". In Good condition. Notes indicate that this is from The Day Off.
The New Adventures of Mighty Mouse and Ren and Stimpy Animation Art Group (Ralph Bakshi Productions/Spumco, 1988-2003). Here are thirty hand-drawn storyboard frames from The New Adventures of Mighty Mouse, and a set of twenty three black and white character reference faxes from Spumco featuring Ren and Stimpy and various other Spumco characters. The storyboards each have an image area of 4.5" x 3.5" and the faxes measure 8.5" x 11" each. Includes a Bakshi Productions production folder. All items are in Very Good condition.

Sleeping Beauty Animation Production Cel Set-Up Original Art (Disney, 1959). Briar Rose waltzes with her forest friends this hand-inked and hand-painted cel set-up. It now appears to us that the cels have been trimmed to the line and laminated together. The lamination plastic sheets have some buckling, and there is some discoloration behind the figures at the right; otherwise the work is in Good condition.
The Smurfs Animation Production Cel Set-Up with Background Original Art Group (undated). Includes two animation production cel set-ups with original painted background art. Each measures approximately 14" x 10.5". In Very Good condition.
Original Comic Art
Dick Sprang Bat-Mite Conceptual Study Original Art (c. 1980s). That elfin character from another dimension who uses his zany powers to make things tough for Batman and Robin by legendary Batman artist, Dick Sprang. Rendered in graphite on vellum, and mounted to presentation board, the art has an image area of 7.75" x 10.25", and it is in Excellent condition. Includes a Certificate of Authenticity.
Joe Staton and Terry Beatty Guy Gardner #12 Splash page 1 Original Art (DC, 1993). An evil, mean and nasty Guy Gardner lets loose on Batman and the Flash in this splash page for the story, "Dream a Deadly Dream." The art has an image area of 10" x 15" and it includes the original indicia paste-up copy at the bottom. In Excellent condition. Signed and inscribed by Terry Beatty along the bottom.
Tom Sutton (as Dementia) Eros Comix Buffy page 15 Original Art (Eros Comix, undated). Buffy demonstrates her considerable talent for gymnastics with Egor and the gang in this page by Dementia.
