The Legend of Zelda (NES, Nintendo, 1987) Wata 9.4 B+ (Seal Rating).
    • Box: Wata 9.4; Rev-A, Oval Seal of Quality R
    • Seal: (B+) First party H-seam
    • Cartridge: 3-screw

The Classic Series version of The Legend of Zelda marks the last release of the game on the Nintendo Entertainment System. This version includes the gray, 3-screw version of the cartridge. Original releases of the game, which included the gold cartridge, had a cutout on the front exposes the cartridge through a small square on the shield unlike this version. Sealed versions of this NES title are considered to be exceptionally difficult to come by, even more so with a grade of this caliber.

The Legend of Zelda for the NES was originally released in North America in August, 1987, and is the first game in one of Nintendo's arguably most iconic series. It was created by the famous Shigeru Miyamoto. His goal was to focus on developing a positive gameplay experience for the player and providing them with a goal of "completing" the game, rather than encouraging them to get the highest possible score. He has been reported as saying that he wanted Hyrule to be like "a miniature garden that you can put into a drawer and revisit anytime you like." Miyamoto had been inspired by the fields, woods, and caves near his childhood home that he explored as a young boy. He accomplished this by creating an expansive, non-linear world of puzzles and exploration elements in addition to the action adventure gameplay.
