The second entry in the action series let players take control of Dante or Lucia, battling enemies in fast, stylish combat across a series of mission-based objectives. The game introduced mechanics like evasion, weapon swapping, and the Devil Trigger, expanding the core gameplay. Directed by Hideaki Itsuno and produced by Katsuhiro Sudo, it also featured a soundtrack composed by Tetsuya Shibata. Despite a rushed production by a new team at Capcom that resulted in a more serious Dante, simplified gameplay, and mixed reception, the game laid the groundwork for director Hideaki Itsuno to revitalize the series in future entries.
