Pitfall! - Wata 9.6 A+ Sealed [1982 Light Green Box, Later Production], 2600 Activision 1982 USA. In our July Signature Auction earlier this year, we sold a Wata 9.4 A+ copy of this same light-green version for more than $5,000 all-in, so we're expecting big things from this even nicer copy. The second best-selling video game for the Atari 2600 (after Pac-Man) at more than 4 million copies sold, Pitfall! is credited with creating the side-scrolling platformer genre. While it doesn't truly scroll (the action abruptly shifts from screen to screen), it did pave the way for games like Super Mario Bros. and Sonic the Hedgehog. Designed by David Crane, Pitfall! spawned several sequels (including Pitfall II: Lost Caverns) and is widely regarded as one of the best, most iconic games in the 2600 library.
