Rare Q1 Lite, the First Follow Up to the Original Q1

Q1 Desktop Micro Computer without Printer [Model: Q1/Lite IWS] - Condition: Fine, Q1 1976 USA. When we unboxed this incredible antique here in the Heritage offices, we were amazed by what we saw. This extremely rare Q1 Lite computer is the streamlined model of the original Q1, which was the world's first standalone microcomputer. This groundbreaking device features an orange screen and integrated keyboard, combining form and function in a compact design that was way ahead of its time.

Powered by the innovative Intel 8008 processor, the Q1 offered remarkable flexibility and performance not typical of early microcomputers, which were often limited by bulkier TTL logic circuits based on wired transistors. This shift to a microprocessor-based architecture allowed the Q1 to punch well above its weight, supporting capabilities usually reserved for larger systems. This early machine's capabilities were impressive, setting a precedent in the computing industry and hinting at the future of personal computing. The Q1's introduction marked a pivotal moment in technological history, demonstrating the vast potential of microcomputers to transform both professional and personal computing landscapes.

This scarce unit is in very nice condition, all things considered. The keyboard has discoloration, and the casing has some light scuffing and is a bit dusty in hard-to-reach places, but this remarkable piece of history looks great overall. Attached with string to the back of the unit is some added provenance: a Q1 Europe Ltd. warranty card. The screen looks good, and the various buttons keys appear in good shape, but the computer has not been tested and is being sold as-is. It does not come with hookups, so we couldn't try it out. This is the model without the built-in printer. We have the model with the built-in printer as well as the standalone printer for the Q1 lite in this sale, which offers an unprecedented opportunity for vintage PC collectors to secure these significant artifacts of technological history. Measures approximately 21" x 16.5" x 9."
