Adapted from Midway's 1995 arcade game, which was designed and programmed by Ed Boon, the game is a standalone update of Mortal Kombat 3 with altered gameplay and a variety of new features, such as the returning favorites Kitana and Scorpion, who were missing from Mortal Kombat 3.
