Incredible Highest-Graded First-Production Copy of Landmark NES Game
The Legend of Zelda - CGC 9.4 A+ Sealed [NES TM, No Rev-A, First
Production], NES Nintendo 1987 USA. Historic video game
collecting finds continue to surface even in 2025, as demonstrated
by The Waterford Collection-a newly named collection certified by
CGC. Among the early NES titles featured in this auction, this
stunning first-print Legend of Zelda was selected as the cover lot,
marking the highest graded first-print example ever offered
publicly. First-print copies are identified by the "TM" symbol next
to the "Nintendo Entertainment System" text on the front of the
box. Nintendo revised the box three more times between its August
1987 launch and early 1988, highlighting how brief the production
window was for each version. Notably, this variant is the exact one
that hit store shelves on August 22, 1987, when American audiences
first encountered Link, Zelda, and the Kingdom of Hyrule. As the
debut entry in a franchise that helped define the action-adventure
genre-and the industry itself-this copy offers a rare combination
of historical significance, scarcity, and exceptional condition.
Undoubtedly, this game is among the cream of the crop NES games to
