Description
Rad Racer - Wata 8.0 A+ Sealed [Daytime Screenshots, First Production], NES Nintendo 1987 USA. This lot is truly significant. Of the two first-production copies of Rad Racer listed on Wata's September 2025 population report, this one carries the higher grade-and remarkably, these are the only two surviving examples Wata has certified in more than seven years of grading. For such an iconic game of the 1980s and early NES era-immortalized in The Wizard and fondly remembered as one of the defining titles that showcased the NES's 3D glasses feature-it's astonishing that so few first-print copies exist. Early runs featured a "Daytime" screenshot on the back of the box, which was quickly replaced with the equally rare "Nighttime" version for reasons lost to time, resulting in an extremely short production window for this variant. It's also the first time Heritage has ever offered one at auction. The box presents nicely overall, showing only light wear, including a minor half-inch crease on the back, a faint 2.5-inch crease on the front near the bottom right, and a small half-inch crease on the top front. These are clearly nitpicks for such a rare title.View the certification for Wata Certification ID 610540-001, including grader's notes if available.
