The game, which features a turn-based battle system, initially began development under the title of "Super Mario RPG 2." Along with Thousand-Year Door, it is often considered by fans to be the best game in the series. Developed by Intelligent Systems, this follow-up to Super Mario 64 was produced by Zelda and Mario creator Shigeru Miyamoto.
