A first-production hangtab copy of Karate Champ like this one represents an exceptionally scarce early third-party release. According to publicly available census data, fewer than five examples of this hangtab variant are known, and it's our first time offering one. Karate Champ holds historical importance as one of the earliest one-on-one fighting games, bringing Data East's arcade classic into the home and helping pave the way for the genre's future. This copy presents beautifully, with only a few faint circular writing impressions on the front-visible only under direct light-and the slightest touch of corner wear. It is a remarkable survivor from the early days of the NES.
