Though this NES launch title is regularly encountered in the market, it definitely is a wonderful part of Nintendo history with a great story behind it!
The game was designed by Shigeru Miyamoto, made famous for a lot of his game design work and most notably the creation of Mario and Zelda. Baseball was one of the launch titles that was featured during Nintendo's test market event in Manhattan. They hired Mookie Wilson and Ron Darling of the Mets to play a demonstration of this game on a large projector and sign autographs for fans. Many consider this to be one of the most excellent marketing ideas Nintendo had for introducing the US market to the system.
