Description

Swordquest: WaterWorld Wata 7.5 A+ Sealed Atari 2600 Atari 1983 USA. Atari fans will quickly recognize this one, as it was even considered a grail "back in ye olden days!" WaterWorld is the third game in the Swordquest series, which was meant to be a four-part series. It is also one of four games that were only available for purchase through Atari Club, further contributing to its rarity. Collectors have long viewed this game as one of the most difficult games to find sealed on the system, and the projected population in that state is in the low single digits. The Swordquest series was produced by Atari to host a special contest, and ads enticed players with $150,000 in prizes - very tempting! All of the games in the series came with a comic book that had secret clues hidden within its pages that would assist the player in solving puzzles that were part of its contests. The final, intended game in the series, "Swordquest: Airworld" was never released, effectively making "WaterWorld" the final game in the series. Prizes included The Talisman of Penultimate Truth, the Chalice of Light, the Crown of LIfe, the Philosopher's Stone, and the Sword of Ultimate Sorcery. However, only the talisman, chalice, and crown were ever awarded, and the contest ended suddenly without a formal ending. However, a sealed copy of WaterWorld is quite a prize in its own right!+
