Pac-Man - CGC 9.6 Glue Seal ["Video Computer System" Text, Atari Sticker, Mid-Production], 2600 Atari 1982 USA. This beautiful copy represents one of the rarest Atari 2600 Pac-Man variants, with publicly available population data showing surviving examples in the single digits. Further, it is tied with just one other copy for the highest grade across all variants of this game we've offered. This mid-production copy includes the added "Video Computer System" text between "Pac-Man" and "Game Program," introduced after the earliest January 1982 copies. Programmed by Tod Frye under severe time and memory constraints, this port of the 1980 coin-op classic featured flickering ghosts, off-key sounds, and simplified visuals. Although widely criticized as one of the worst arcade-to-home conversions, it still became the console's best-selling game, with more than seven million copies sold-its release was even promoted with "National Pac-Man Day" on April 3, 1982. The cover art by Hiro Kimura reflected the design changes within the game, showing Pac-Man with eyes, uniform-colored ghosts, and a vitamin in place of the iconic fruits.View the certification for CGC Certification ID 1023766005 , including grader's notes if available..*
