Description

Pac-Man - CGC 8.5 A+ Sealed [No "Video Computer System", Atari Sticker, Early Production], 2600 Atari 1982 USA. Despite at least 21 documented variants of Pac-Man for the Atari 2600, collectors seeking an early print need only look for one key detail: the absence of the "Video Computer System" text on the box cover. These earliest copies, manufactured in January 1982, predate the addition of that text-later placed between "Pac-Man" and "Game Program". More than 45 years after his debut, Pac-Man remains a gaming icon. The Atari 2600 port-programmed by Tod Frye under extreme time and memory limitations-featured flickering ghosts, off-key sounds, and simplified visuals. Though heavily criticized and widely panned as one of the worst arcade-to-home conversions, it still became the console's best-selling game, with over seven million units sold. The box has some corner wear, smudges/ pinpoint stains and slight concaving on the front cover, as well as a few creases the largest being a 2" and two 1" ones on the front cover.
