Adventure [Atari, Inc.] Wata 7.0 NS Atari 2600 Atari 1980 USA. Like many early Atari games, this title was never factory sealed with plastic and, instead, the box lid was glued shut. Even people who did not grow up with the Atari 2600 have managed to become pretty familiar with this game due to its story-driven references in the popular science fiction novel, Ready Player One. While this game is certainly popular on its own merits, it's safe to say the book has certainly inspired a new found interest in the title! While "Adventure" is certainly a popular game on the console in its own right, it's regarded as especially important because it's considered the game that popularized the usage of "Easter Eggs" in video games and popular culture. When this game was made, game designers were never credited for their work, so the creator, Warren Robinett, decided to hide his name in the game behind a secret door to be discovered by curious players. It is also considered to be the first action-adventure and fantasy game for a home console. With all of these firsts, it's no surprise that this is considered to be such an important, key title for the console!
