Sole PSA 10 Copy of This Beloved Pokémon Game
Pocket Monsters Ao - PSA 10 NS Unopened [Store UPC, Later
Production], Game Boy Nintendo 1996 JPN. This is the only copy
of Pocket Monsters Ao to achieve a perfect certification
grade, making it one of the premier video game lots in this
auction. Interest in Japanese Pokémon games has surged as trading
card game collectors and video game collectors alike increasingly
pursue the earliest releases from the franchise's homeland, and
with PSA only beginning to certify Japanese Game Boy titles this
year, the population remains exceptionally small. Available census
data across companies indicates that fewer than 30 unopened copies
have been certified, leaving very little supply to satisfy rapidly
growing demand. Earning a PSA 10 on a vintage Japanese Game Boy
game is an extraordinary feat. Unlike their North American
counterparts, Japanese Game Boy games were not factory-sealed in
shrinkwrap, leaving the boxes exposed to decades of handling, shelf
wear, humidity, and other environmental factors. Even minor surface
scuffing, impressions, edge wear, or other imperfections can
prevent a copy from reaching Gem Mint status.Known internationally as Pokémon Blue Version, Pocket Monsters Ao refined the gameplay introduced in Pocket Monsters Aka and Midori, featuring revised Pokémon artwork, numerous bug fixes, and a variety of gameplay refinements. More than a simple revision, it became the definitive version of the original Pokémon adventure in Japan, with many of its improvements carried forward into the international releases of Pokémon Red and Pokémon Blue. Its addictive monster-collecting mechanics, memorable adventure, and emphasis on trading and completing the Pokédex helped lay the foundation for the most successful entertainment franchise of all time.
