    Description

The Avengers #1 (Marvel, 1963) CGC NM+ 9.6 Off-white to white pages. It's as high of a grade as CGC has assigned yet for the highly coveted issue that gave us for the first time "Earth's Mightiest Super-Heroes" -- Thor, Iron Man, Hulk, and the duo of Ant-Man and the Wasp. Jack Kirby and Stan Lee pulled all the stops in September, 1963 on the newest title from "The House of Ideas" by having the Fantastic Four guest appear, along with the Teen Brigade and Loki. We've only offered a copy this nice on one prior occasion -- the Pacific Coast copy, some three years ago, which fetched a whopping $274,500! This issue is currently tied for #12 on Overstreet's list of Top 50 Silver Age Comics. Jack Kirby cover and interior art. Overstreet 2015 NM- 9.2 value = $33,000. CGC census 11/15: 5 in 9.6, none higher.
