The Amazing Spider-Man #1 (Marvel, 1963) CGC FN+ 6.5 Cream to off-white pages. The first issue of the most popular superhero in comics over the past 40 years was a breath of fresh air in 1963. A superhero to identify with! A bullied, angst-filled, pimple faced nerd! The Fantastic Four paved the way for the Marvel Age, and guest-appeared in this premiere issue. Stan Lee scripted the story, Jack "King" Kirby and "Sturdy" Steve Ditko teamed up for the cover art, with Ditko providing interior art. J. Jonah Jameson and the Chameleon make their first appearances here, and Spidey's origin is retold as well, in case anyone had forgotten that story from seven months earlier, in Amazing Fantasy #15. Currently the #7 book on Overstreet's list of Top 50 Silver Age Comics. Overstreet 2021 FN 6.0 value = $8,700; VF 8.0 value = $21,800. CGC census 11/21: 123 in 6.5, 273 higher.
