    Description

Tales of Suspense #40 Twin Cities pedigree (Marvel, 1963) CGC NM 9.4 Off-white to white pages. The second appearance of Iron Man is harder to find in most any grade than his first appearance in #39 is! And this is certainly the best copy of the issue we've ever sold. This second outing has the debut of Iron Man's gold armor, with the grey look being discarded after a single outing. Also debuting: Tony Stark's now-familiar attaché case for the armor, and even the somewhat wacky (though fondly remembered) jet-powered skates. Jack Kirby cover. Overstreet 2010 NM- 9.2 value = $4,500. CGC census 4/11: 4 in 9.4, 2 higher. From the Gary Dahlberg Collection.
