    Description

Tales of Suspense #40 (Marvel, 1963) CBCS VF+ 8.5 White pages. This is just the second appearance of Iron Man, and our auctions have seen a consistent rise in prices for issue #39 and Iron Man #1, which also seem to be affecting this issue's value. This book has firsts such as Ol' Shellhead's armor change from gray to gold, Tony Stark's now-familiar attaché case (for his armor), and even the somewhat wacky (though fondly remembered) jet-powered skates. Jack Kirby and Don Heck are the cover artists, while Steve Ditko and Larry (don't call me Lee) Lieber contributed the interior art. Overstreet 2015 VF 8.0 value = $1,625; VF/NM 9.0 value = $3,663. CGC census 8/15: 16 in 8.5, 28 higher. From the Hemet, CA Collection.
