X-Men #4 (Marvel, 1964) CGC NM 9.4 White pages. While we had been privileged to offer 9.4 copies before, none had the coveted "white" page quality until this beauty came along! This copy has it all, and so does the issue, just look at all of the first appearances! Quicksilver (who was an Avenger forever), the Scarlet Witch (ditto), and Mastermind (one of the best villains to face the new X-Men in later years) all debuted, and heck, even the Toad is pretty well-known since he appeared in the first X-Men movie! It's also the first group appearance of the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants, and just the second outing for Magneto. You could argue that this cover is the best of the Jack Kirby run, and this glossy copy is an ideal showcase for it. Overstreet 2006 NM- 9.2 value = $1,700. CGC census 3/07: 13 in 9.4, 2 higher.

I have done a preliminary analysis and the total of the hammer prices was $67,550. With BP, the final figure was $80,722.25. That is against the total insurance value of $34,785 or 2.32 x ‘pre-auction estimate’. Incredible, really, so a big thanks.
