    Description

X-Men #1 (Marvel, 1963) CGC VF+ 8.5 Off-white to white pages. After launching the Marvel Age with the Fantastic Four, Thor, Iron Man, Ant-Man, Spider-Man, and Dr. Strange, Stan Lee played one more trump card: a team of mutant teen heroes dubbed "The X-Men". This debut issue featured the origin and first appearance of the team (the Angel, the Beast, Cyclops, Iceman, and Marvel Girl), as well as the first appearances of their mentor (Professor X) and their super-villain nemesis, Magneto. Jack Kirby provided the cover and interior art. Though the series struggled for attention well into the 1970s, it has since exploded into one of the most popular franchises in the world, and this issue is currently ranked #8 on Overstreet's list of Top 50 Silver Age Comics. Overstreet 2017 VF 8.0 value = $11,500; VF/NM 9.0 value = $26,750. CGC census 11/17: 48 in 8.5, 61 higher.
