The Incredible Hulk #1 (Marvel, 1962) CGC VF+ 8.5 White pages. This impressive copy -- with white pages, no less -- is nothing to scoff at considering how few have survived in high grades. The deep-blue background of Jack Kirby's iconic and oft-recreated cover is delicate and easily marred; this copy has fewer blemishes to its edges and corners than one might expect, and no creases to disrupt its striking imagery. Pristine white pages round out a superlative copy.This is an important comic from Marvel's first wave of Silver Age releases, containing the origin and first appearance of the Hulk, as well as the first appearances of important supporting characters Rick Jones, Betty Ross, and General "Thunderbolt" Ross. Its story art is also by Kirby. Though the title struggled at first and ended (temporarily) after six issues, the Hulk endured and continues to be a pillar of the Marvel Universe. He's even been announced to return to the big screen in next year's Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Currently #2 on Overstreet's list of Top 50 Silver Age Comics. Overstreet 2024 VF 8.0 value = $81,100; VF/NM 9.0 value = $255,550. CGC census 8/25: 11 in 8.5, 22 higher.
