    The Amazing Spider-Man #1 (Marvel, 1963) CGC FN+ 6.5 Off-white to white pages. It took only one try-out issue for the brain trust at Marvel (ok, mostly Stan Lee's brain) to decide that giving the unusual teen superhero his own title was a good idea. The try-out, of course, was the one-shot Amazing Fantasy #15, which preceded this premiere issue by six months. As with AF #15, Jack Kirby and Steve Ditko combined for an iconic cover, with Ditko providing the interior story art. The issue had a slew of firsts: first appearances of John Jameson, J. Jonah Jameson, and the Chameleon, as well as the first-ever Marvel crossover in the form of an appearance by the Fantastic Four. The webslinger's origin is also retold from AF #15. One of the hottest, in-demand issues among collectors in any grade! Overstreet 2010 FN 6.0 value = $4,500; VF 8.0 value = $13,500. CGC census 1/11: 55 in 6.5, 155 higher.
