    Spider-Man's Debut Issue!

The Amazing Spider-Man #1 (Marvel, 1963). After a spectacular showing in Amazing Fantasy #15, Spider-Man gets his own comic book, with a guest-appearance by the Fantastic Four. Probably the third-most important Marvel Silver Age Key (after Amazing Fantasy #15 and Fantastic Four #1), the first issue of Amazing Spider-Man is a red-hot book in just about anyone's estimation. This outstanding example features good clarity and freshness, with reasonably square corners and a perfectly-registered cut, and none of the telltale "Marvel chipping" that mars so many books from this period. Apparent flaws include some very light spine stress (which breaks the ink only in the green text strip just below the Human Torch), moderate dinginess to the back cover, and the bottom staple rolled approximately 1/8" onto the front cover. Given the relative scarcity of this book in high grade, this is a truly "amazing" copy that would be the prize of any Spider-Man collection. CGC VF 8.0 Off-white pages. Overstreet 2001 VF 8.0 value = $8,800; NM 9.4 value = $25,000.
