    Description

Tales to Astonish #44 (Marvel, 1963) CGC NM+ 9.6 White pages. We had never seen a 9.6 copy of issue #44, starring Ant-Man and the origin and first appearance of the Wasp, one of the earliest Marvel superheroines. Only two copies have ever been assigned a higher grade by CGC. This issue came out fairly early in Marvel's Silver Age, pre-dating the likes of X-Men #1 and The Avengers #1. Jack Kirby cover and art, and a back-up story has Steve Ditko art. Note that the superheroine who debuts here will have a bigger pop culture presence when the Ant-Man and the Wasp movie is released in 2018! Overstreet 2016 NM- 9.2 value = $3,000. CGC census 2/17: 2 in 9.6, 2 higher.
