Tales of Suspense #57 (Marvel, 1964) CGC NM 9.4 White pages. A crisp, clean copy of the origin and first appearance of Hawkeye (Clint Barton), who made his debut as a reluctant henchman for the (then) villainous Black Widow. Though numerous super-archers had appeared in comics long before him, Hawkeye quickly became a fan favorite, and was subsequently rehabilitated as a hero and made an Avenger. A backup story starring the Watcher is also featured in this issue. The cover is by Don Heck, with story art by him and Larry Lieber. Overstreet 2024 NM- 9.2 value = $8,200.
