Description
Strange Tales #135 Signature Series: Stan Lee (Marvel, 1965) CGC NM/MT 9.8 White pages. The single highest-graded Signature Series copy containing the first appearance of Nick Fury as an agent of S.H.I.E.L.D., and the first appearances of S.H.I.E.L.D. and HYDRA. Jack Kirby drew the cover and art. The book, one of the toughest of Marvel's mid-'60s first appearances to find in high grade, contains a Doctor Strange feature with art by Steve Ditko, and a Baron Mordo appearance. This was part of the set that received the inaugural CGC Registry Award for Best Custom Set in 2023. CGC notes, "Signed by Stan Lee on 9/11/16." Overstreet 2023 NM- 9.2 value = $2,100. CGC census for Universal grades 2/24: 3 in 9.8, none higher; for Signature Series 2/24: 1 in 9.8, none higher.CGC Grader Notes:
