    Description

Strange Tales #114 Pacific Coast pedigree (Marvel, 1963) CGC NM/MT 9.8 White pages. Captain America makes his first appearance since 1954 -- sort of. It's actually the villainous Acrobat in dastardly disguise. It was a test run for Cap's potential return to comics, with a postscript from Stan Lee asking readers if they wanted more of the First Avenger. The rest is proverbial history. The issue also featured the first appearance of Victoria Bentley and the third appearance of Dr. Strange, whose series begins. Jack Kirby, Steve Ditko, and Dick Ayers all provided interior art. This amazing copy is as close to perfect as a Silver Age Marvel is likely to get, and its 9.8 is the highest grade assigned to this issue by CGC to date. Overstreet 2012 NM- 9.2 value = $1,000. CGC census 7/12: 3 in 9.8, none higher. From the Doug Schmell / PedigreeComics.com Collection.
