Showcase #4 The Flash (DC, 1956) CBCS GD 2.0 Off-white to white pages. Most consider the Silver Age to have with this issue, a full five years before Fantastic Four #1 hit the newsstands. It had been nearly eight years since the original Golden Age Flash sped off into the sunset in Flash Comics #104, and his reinvention in 1956 led to other new/old superheroes exploding onto the comics scene over the next few years. DC legends Carmine Infantino and Joe Kubert combined for the cover and interior art. Besides the origin and first appearance of the Silver Age Flash (Barry Allen), the Scarlet Speedster's love interest Iris West makes her first appearance. The book currently sits at #4 on Overstreet's list of Top 50 Silver Age Comics, and after years of ceding ground to a trio of Marvel titles, it surged in value over the past year, posting an impressive 30 percent gain over its 2016 Overstreet value. CBCS notes, "1 piece of tape on cover & 1 piece on interior cover." Overstreet 2017 GD 2.0 value = $6,000.
