Description
Justice League of America #5 (DC, 1961) CGC NM+ 9.6 Off-white pages. This beautiful copy ties with the Don and Maggie Thompson Collection copy for the top spot on CGC's census, outscoring the Circle 8, Savannah, Twin Cities, Mohawk Valley, and Murphy Anderson File copies. CGC has certified only a relative handful in grades of 9.0 or better; we've only seen one other 9.6 copy (and none higher) which we sold in 2013.The book features the origin and first appearance of Doctor Destiny, who would become an enduring foe for the JLA and even make a memorable (and gruesome) appearance in the early issues of the Vertigo Sandman series. The cover and art are by Mike Sekowsky. Overstreet 2024 NM- 9.2 value = $1,850. CGC census 9/24: 3 in 9.6, none higher.
