    Description

Journey Into Mystery #85 (Marvel, 1962) CGC NM+ 9.6 Off-white to white pages. A great deal of series mythology is introduced in this issue: Thor battles his miscreant brother Loki, who makes his first appearance, and their homeworld of Asgard and the implacable guardian Heimdall also make their respective debuts. The father of the gods, Odin, also shows up in a brief cameo. The cover and art are by Jack Kirby, while the backup feature art is by Steve Ditko. Another issue that is nigh impossible to find in high grades; this particular copy is the nicest we've ever seen, and it bears the highest grade assigned to the issue by CGC to date. Overstreet 2012 NM- 9.2 value = $4,200. CGC census 7/12: 4 in 9.6, none higher. From the Doug Schmell / PedigreeComics.com Collection.
