Journey Into Mystery #83 (Marvel, 1962) CGC FN 6.0 Cream to off-white pages. The origin and first appearance of Thor puts this among the handful of Marvel Silver Age keys -- it's on Overstreet's list of the Top Ten Silver Age books. Jack Kirby drew the cover and the Thor story. If you're wondering about the notation on the slab, "Steve Ditko art," that's a horror/mystery feature in the mag, and CGC neglected to mention Dashin' Donny Heck, who also teamed with Stan Lee on a five-page weird-o-rama. The new Overstreet Grading Guide defines Fine as "An above-average copy that shows minor wear" and that definitely applies to this solid specimen. High-grade copies of #83 go for five figures now, so take a strong look at this one. Overstreet 2006 FN 6.0 value = $1,455. CGC census 10/06: 23 in 6.0, 78 higher.
