    Description

Fantastic Four #3 (Marvel, 1962) CGC VF+ 8.5 Off-white to white pages. This is the best copy of this issue we've ever offered! It's the issue in which the Fantastic Four became more of a traditional superhero team, donning costumes for the first time, establishing a headquarters, and coming up with their distinctive Fantasti-Car. Stan Lee's original idea for a team totally different than what had gone before involved their not wearing costumes at all, as an extension of the fact that they didn't bother with secret identities. Thank goodness he reconsidered, as the outfits and gadgets became an essential aspect of the group. All except for the Thing's costume, complete with mask, that lasted about three panels! Of course, those great visuals are courtesy of co-creator Jack Kirby. Overstreet 2006 VF 8.0 value = $2,109; VF/NM 9.0 value = $3,705. CGC census 3/06: 8 in 8.5, 9 higher.
