    Description

Showcase #43 Doctor No - Western Penn pedigree (DC, 1963) CGC NM- 9.2 Off-white to white pages. James Bond collectors and DC fans alike will want to take a strong look at this one. It's the first U.S. comic book appearance of Ian Fleming's hero (bizarrely, on the cover Bond's a dead ringer for Roger Moore -- was that prescient or what?). The comic has an interesting history: Overstreet notes that the story was originally published as British Classics Illustrated #158A, and that the U.S. version was edited to delete "all racial skin color and dialogue." It's also the first movie adaptation DC published in the Silver Age. The art is by Green Lantern artist Martin Nodell. To date, only three copies of the issue have been graded higher by CGC. Overstreet 2004 NM- 9.2 value = $635.

View the certification for CGC Certification ID 0105568004 and purchase grader's notes if available.
