Showcase #4 The Flash - Ohio-Fairborn Pedigree (DC, 1956) CGC VF 8.0 Off-white to white pages. It's considered by most to be the first Silver Age comic and ranks as the most valuable DC issues of the era. With this issue the publisher embarked on a highly successful campaign of bringing back to print some of its most popular Golden Age superheroes and updating them to more modern times. The first revival was the Flash, whose Silver Age origin and first appearance were here. It's rare to see high-grade copies turn up. If you've noticed, we've sold more than a few thousand comic books over the last decade, but only two #4's in as high a grade as this one. The Ohio-Fairborn Pedigree isn't as widely known as the similarly-worded Ohio Pedigree. It consisted of approximately 200 high-grade DCs from the mid-1950s, with this being the key book in the collection and possibly the only one to have been certified by CGC to date. Carmine Infantino began a legendary Silver Age run as artist for the Flash, with help from another Golden Age veteran Joe Kubert on this cover. The issue currently ranks #4 on Overstreet's list of Top 50 Silver Age Comics. CGC notes, "'S' written on cover in grease pencil." This is, in fact, a characteristic of the Ohio-Fairborn pedigree. Overstreet 2020 VF 8.0 value = $64,600. CGC census 4/21: 8 in 8.0, 12 higher.

View the certification for CGC Certification ID 0001722001 and purchase grader's notes if available.

More Information: EDIT: Clarification of the pedigree as distinguished from the Ohio pedigree.
