    Description

Challengers of the Unknown #1 (DC, 1958) CGC Apparent FN+ 6.5 Extensive (P) Cream to off-white pages. Jack Kirby made a splash with this great heroic team, drawn some three years before his more famous (and "Fantastic") group over at rival Marvel Comics. Tapping into the science fiction fever gripping the nation in the late 1950s, this first issue features some odd-looking space aliens menacing the Challengers. This copy, while extensively restored, exhibits incredibly deep cover colors, and looks simply gorgeous. CGC notes, "Restoration includes: color touch, pieces added, tear seals, cover cleaned, reinforced." CGC adds, "Jack Kirby" written on first page." Overstreet 2004 GD 2.0 value = $189; VG 4.0 value = $378; FN 6.0 value = $567.
