Richie Rich #1 (Harvey, 1960) CBCS NM+ 9.6 Off-white to white pages. We have previously sold two other 9.6 certified copies -- one sold for $26,290, and one for $29,875, but what really jumps out at us about this one is that the page quality, better than either of the previous two (which were certified "off-white and "cream to off-white"). This is the issue that started the whole Richie Rich craze. The Poor Little Rich Boy had been relegated to a backup feature in every issue of Little Dot, and eventually had two Harvey Hits tryout issues before earning the rights to have his own book, and would go on to star in more than 50 spin-off titles! Warren Kremer provided the art for this early outing (with Richie being waited on by Hawkins -- before Cadbury took over as butler supreme). This copy originated from the Harvey warehouse which was bought by Steve Geppi. While the warehouse had many multiples of many Harvey issues, there were only a few Richie Rich #1s, one of which is this copy which Magik Woo acquired directly from Mr. Geppi. One could argue that this is the most desirable copy of a Harvey comic ever offered, and we expect heavy competition when it comes up for auction. CBCS notes, "From the Personal Collection of Mister Magik Woo." Overstreet 2015 NM- 9.2 value = $8,000. CGC census 8/15: 3 in 9.6, none higher.

    More Information:

Mr. Woo has arranged for Heritage to donate a percentage of the proceeds from this lot directly to the Hero Initiative, a federally chartered, non-profit corporation solely dedicated to helping comic book creators in need.
