    Description

Rawhide Kid #17 (Marvel, 1960) CGC VF+ 8.5 White pages. One of the most desirable Marvel Western comics we have ever offered. Published three years after the prior issue, this was not the return of the earlier Kid but rather featured a brand new character. The character's origin is told, and equally importantly, Jack Kirby began as artist of the book here. If you collect Marvel Westerns of this era you know that 8.5 is a stunning grade, so it's not surprising that this is at the top of the CGC census. By the way, over the years more than a couple of Western-collectin' hombres have called this the first Silver Age Marvel key. It is the beginning of a Stan Lee and Jack Kirby collaboration on a long-running character .... With Amazing Fantasy #15s fetching $10,000 in Good, we see Kid #17 as a bargain even at multiples of the Guide price listed below. Overstreet 2017 VF 8.0 value = $742; VF/NM 9.0 value = $1,271. CGC census 7/17: 1 in 8.5, none higher.
