    Description

Journey Into Mystery #83 (Marvel, 1962) CGC NM 9.4 White pages. It's the fourth most valuable Marvel Silver Age comic, trailing only Amazing Fantasy #15, The Incredible Hulk #1, and Fantastic Four #1. And in our auctions, only a CBCS 9.6 copy we offered in 2015 has a higher grade. Another CGC 9.4 copy sold for over $200,000 in 2014! With its white pages, this offering has the appearance of a pedigree book. The origin and first appearance of Thor was provided by Jack Kirby (cover and interior), and "King" Kirby would continue as the primary artist for eight years and continued to provide cover art intermittently for several more years after Journey Into Mystery became Thor. Steve Ditko provided the art for the backup story in this classic issue. Overstreet 2017 NM- 9.2 value = $75,000. CGC census 11/17: 8 in 9.4, 1 higher. From the Douglas Schmell PedigreeComics.com Collection.

I have done a preliminary analysis and the total of the hammer prices was $67,550. With BP, the final figure was $80,722.25. That is against the total insurance value of $34,785 or 2.32 x ‘pre-auction estimate’. Incredible, really, so a big thanks.
