    Description

Fantastic Four Annual #1 (Marvel, 1963) CGC NM+ 9.6 Off-white pages. Every now and then you'll find a silver-haired Silver Age fan who will tell you that this is the best comic that he ever read. And no matter when you first caught the "comic bug" yourself, how could you disagree that this is on the short list of the very best? Start with the extended epic (37 pages!) that had the Sub-Mariner attacking the human race, a story that has been reprinted many times, and deservedly so, with visuals that only Jack Kirby could provide. Then there's an early Spider-Man appearance in a backup feature, with Kirby's pencils inked by Steve Ditko. And then there's another backup feature reprinting the Fantastic Four's origin. Oh, but let's not forget that this issue has the first appearance of Krang, and the first Silver Age appearance of Lady Dorma. The fresh look of this ultra-high-grade copy is simply striking -- no wonder it's tied for the highest grade that CGC has certified to date for the issue. Overstreet 2016 NM- 9.2 value = $1,950. CGC census 8/16: 12 in 9.6, none higher.
