Description

Fantastic Four #1 (Marvel, 1961) CGC VF/NM 9.0 Off-white to white pages. This daring issue heralded the Marvel Age of Comics, and suddenly DC had serious competition in the superhero wars! It's much harder to find in high grade than Marvel's other "origin" issues of the early '60s. It's been over three years, since we've offered a Universal copy in as high of a grade, and we've only offered three higher-graded in our history! Herein is the origin and first appearance of the Fantastic Four, Marvel's first superhero team -- Mr. Fantastic, the Thing, the Human Torch, and Invisible Girl. Also featured is the origin and first appearance of Mole Man. Jack Kirby created one of his most famous covers here, one of an incredible seven covers he drew for Marvel that are among the Top Ten of Overstreet's Top 50 Silver Age Comics, which includes this issue at #3. Overstreet 2020 VF/NM 9.0 value = $116,000; NM- 9.2 value = $190,000. CGC census 4/21: 10 in 9.0, 7 higher.
