Zap Comix #1 (Second Printing) (Apex Novelties, 1968) CGC VF/NM 9.0 Cream to off-white pages. While there are earlier Underground Comix than Zap #1, this is the book that kick-started the genre. It's also the comic that brought Robert Crumb to world-wide prominence, and introduced his "Mr. Natural" character to many of his fans. Legend has it that copies were sold by Crumb and his then-wife Dana on the streets of San Francisco from a baby buggy. It has since been disclosed that publisher Don Donahue was standing in for Crumb, who was off doing, er... his "thing" at the time! A second printing Zap #1 is a little easier to find than a Plymell first edition, but not by much, especially a copy as nice as this one. Fogel's Underground Comix Price Guide NM value = $500. Adult themes.
