Description

Zap Comix #1 First Printing - Light Blue Variant (Apex Novelties, 1967) CGC NM- 9.2, Off-white to white pages. We've seen our fair share of Plymell edition Zap #1 issues come through, but it's certainly a book we never tire of seeing -- especially in this kind of condition! As a historical landmark, it can be safely argued that this is one of the most important books from the Silver Age of comics, if for no other reason than to launch the independent movement, not to mention the whole mind-blowing Underground thing. We probably don't even need to mention it by now, but the book is cover to cover Robert Crumb story and art. It's also one of the scarcer "light blue" variants that Charles Plymell and Don Donahue printed early in the run before a request came from Mr. Crumb to use a darker blue ink. Fogel's Underground Comix Price Guide Supplement NM- 9.2 value = $10,000. CGC census 2/13: 2 in 9.2, 12 higher.
